5 Steps to A Great Marketing Video
So you finally understand the importance of video marketing. The next question?
Just how do you go about making a good video?
Well that's easy! You take it step by step.
The following are 5 major steps in developing a good marketing video.
1. Planning
Every aspect of a business requires planning, and video marketing is no exception! A good production requires careful planning to make sure things run smoothly: to make sure the shots have good quality, and that the filming proceeds in a timely manner.
Here are some important questions to ask before you start your video:
What is the goal of the video?
What is the theme?
Is there a script?
Who will be featured in the video?
Where will it be shot?
When will it be shot?
Knowing major information like this can help setup what equipment will be needed for filming, what accommodations will need to be made to ensure the set, how to setup the storyboard for the most compelling shots, who to contact and book for the shooting date, etc.
A lot of things can go wrong if you don't plan ahead!
2. Scouting & Scheduling
Continued from the planning process, scouting and scheduling puts all the right pieces in place so they're ready for the shooting date.
Scouting means going to locations to get a feel for the set, the lighting, the framing, the environmental noise, etc. This can determine if a location is fit for filming, and what is needed to best film at that location.
Scheduling means getting all the right people and equipment there at the right time. Shooting a big group of people at once? Unless you schedule things out before hand, some of your featured speakers may be missing! Lack of availability may even delay your video from your planned release date!
A lot of things can go wrong if you don't scout and schedule!
3. Filming
The big day has finally arrived!
There are many important things to keep in mind during filming. Check out the full article here.
Here's a quick overview of what to keep in mind on the day of filming:
Be Prepared and Know The Content of Your Video Before Hand!
Before Each 'Scene', The Crew will Frame, Focus, Light, Balance, and Clap!
Smile and Be Engaging!
If The Camera is On, You Should Be On Too!
4. Editing
Now the heavy lifting is over, and the magic begins!
All the various shots that were taken get cut up, cleaned up, and put together to make a video that's clear and concise, focused on the goal you set out for your video.
You made need to provide your editor with such items as:
Company Logo
Contact Information
Product Information
Photos
During this step things such as motion graphics, stock videos, and music can be added. After a preliminary draft is made, you should review it to make sure it is aligned with your goals and looks good to you. Once you note any changes that need to be made, the editor can incorporate those into the final draft.
5. Distribution
Now that you have the completed video, you have to make sure it gets in front of your customer's eyes!
Before you begin planning your video, you should have a good idea about where your video is going to end up, and who it is going to end up in front of.
Is your video about your company and team? Put it on your website's About Us page!
Is your video showing a casual insight of what goes on in your office? Post it on a social media page!
Whatever your video is about, and wherever it ends up, make sure it reaches the right people in the right place at the right time.
